How the WHO medical manual is used to stigmatize sexual variation

The WHO medical manual says that only crossdreaming crossdressers can become tranwomen, not the ones that do not get aroused by the idea of being a woman. How did sexual arousal become such a sin?

I have spent some time looking at the American DSM manual. The American psychiatric manual say a lot about how some psychiatrist try to draw the line between different types of cross-gender identification.

There is another manual that is just as interesting, namely the WHO ICD manual (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems,10th Revision,Version for 2007)

Under "Mental and behavioural disorders" there is a category called "Disorders of adult personality and behaviour", where you will find both transsexualism and crossdressing/crossdreaming categorized as mental illnesses.

You are not one of us!

The separatists  transwomen intensify their attacks on crossdressers and "transgender", immensely fearful of contamination by association.

White Pride

Separatist ideologue and HBS International general, Rose White, has now declared war on the presence of drag queens in Pride Parades in Calder-dale, Britain. The argument:

“Drag queens – homosexuals dressed as women – and drag kings, women dressed as men, performing as stereotypical crossdressers promote, foster and reinforce the belief among the audience that any bloke in a frock must be a homosexual.” she says. “If these people are allowed to perform in the town in the Pride, they must have a prominent sign stating ‘We are homosexual men – not transexuals’."

In other words: "You are not one of us!"

What Harry Benjamin Really Meant about Crossdressers and Transwomen

In this post I will take a look at what one of the giants of trans research, Harry Benjamin, really meant about what he called "transvestites" and "transsexuals".

The discussion of Rose White's book on the Harry Benjamin Syndrome and the idea that "true transwomen" and crossdreamers belong to different species continues.

What about Harry Benjamin?

"So who are these HBS people that hold themselves clear and distinct from all other people on the planet?" Rose White asks. (Yes, that was a direct quote!). Her answer:

"Put simply an HBS is a person who from first memory feels to be trapped in the wrong body just as Harry Benjamin described back in 1966."

But would Harry Benjamin have embraced White's book if he was alive today? I can with great certainty say that he would have hated it!

The Harry Benjamin Syndrome 2: The Scientific Basis

In this post I continue to the discussion of Rose White's book The Harry Benjamin Syndrome Comes of Age.

Continues from part 1.
She blinded me with science
Rose White argues that crossdressers and real transwomen (who she calls HBS) have nothing in common. The origins of the two conditions are completely different. While HBS transwomen have a natural brain based femininity, the crossdressers have not, she argues.
So what about the science White is pointing to? Does science really prove that HBS transwomen belong to a different race than crossdreamers who choose to transition?

The Harry Benjamin Syndrome Part 1: When transactivism becomes transphobic

Some of you may have heard about the so-called Harry Benjamin Syndrome.

It is a term developed by transwomen who vehemently oppose any association between them and whom I have called crossdreamers, among them crossdressers.

The argument is that science has proved that this particular group of transwomen, the HBS women, are real women brain wise, and that transitioning male to female crossdreamers (men who get turned on by the idea of having a woman's body, including crossdressers) are not.

In three posts I will take a look at a new book from the Harry Benjamin Syndrome camp, and see if their arguments hold water.

The invisible female to male crossdressers and crossdreamers

The myth of the non-existent female to male crossdreamer or crossdresser is crumbling. It turns out that women can be gender confused as well, without being homosexual or even transsexual.

Gender stereotypes have it that only men can be perverts. For some peculiar reason men are the ones who most wholeheartedly promote this standpoint. Many male to female crossdressers, for instance, seem resigned to "the fact" that they are nothing but "fetishist" and that the women they worship never are. They believe it is their male testosterone driven urges that drives them to them dressing up as women. They have no "inner woman".
Many sexologists and most evolutionary psychologists seem to agree. Ray Blanchard, who has looked at men who get turned on by imagining themselves as women, consider these woman-loving "autogynephiliacs" a completely different category from the "homosexual transsexuals" (i.e. M2F man-loving transwomen).
The "autogynephiliacs"  (who I call crossdreamers)  are suffering from a male typcal paraphilia, according to Blanchard, and a can in no way be considered feminine. As for female to male transsexuals, they are all "homosexuals". There are no female to male "paraphiliacs".
I must say that I have found this very strange. Why should the variety of nature bring us male to female  "autogynephiliacs" and crossdressers,  but no female to male "autoandrophiliacs"?
