3 Kings Publications - Call for Submissions

CALL FOR SUBMISSION - New Deadline March 31st!

Hello Everyone,

We have received some wonderful work for the African American Anthology and we'd say we are a bit more than half way with receiving the number of pieces we need. Please finish your piece and get it in and continue to help spread the word.

See the description below.

(We are pulling together a team for the Latin & Native American Book which you'll hear more about shortly.)

Peace,

Zion, Fresh! & Sile

3 Kings are three Brown-skinned/Black – male identified trans persons who seek to give voice and page to the array of persons of color* who may have been born female and now live all or a significant portion of their lives as TransMen, FtM, Boi, Daddy, Tranny, Tranny Fag, Butch, G3 (gee cued –gender gifted guy,) ’masculine/masculinized’ women (butches, studs, aggressives, ballers, playas….,) Drag Kings, male illusionists, Transgenders, Transsexuals, gender-queers, stealth, boys like us and the likes**.

When considering works written over the past 25 years, there are a plethora of books addressing the ‘social construction of masculinity.’ About 90 books deal specifically with TransGender identities. To my knowledge only four of the 90, specifically offer more than an obligatory glimpse of what is repeatedly understood as the ‘illusive FtM of color.’ Where are the voices, opinions, insight of all the black, brown, red and yellow ’masculine/masculinized’ women, FTMs and others?

A First Timer's Guide to Playing with Trans Guys

eros: the center for safe sex published this.  I found it over at Trannywood Pictures recently and think so much of it that I am posting it here in its entirety.  It's a written for participants in public sex gatherings, but really it applies to anyone.  You can download the .pdf original here.  They also have a guide to safe sex here

By Niko Kowell

So, why a first timer's guide to playing with trans guys?

In San Francisco, and many other places around the world, more and more transguys are coming out as gay men.  Since transguys are now a much bigger part of the gay male community, we thought it was time to sketch out a bit more of a road map.  We developed this guide in a gay safer-sex club setting that is trans-inclusive in its employment, policy and environment.  In an effort to make the guide accurate and comprehensive, it was developed by transmasculine people and reviewed by those in the gay community, both trans and non-trans.

Diversity

Transmasculine folks come in all different packages.  We are incredibly diverse.  We are femme, butch, faggy, masculine, straight and queer.  We all fuck differently; some of us are tops, others bottoms or switches.  It's important to note that you can't always tell transmasculine folks apart from non-trans men just by looking.  Don't assume that someone is or isn't trans or non-trans.  Sleeping with a transguy is different but only because everyone is different.  It still requires communication about sex and boundaries.  Our hope here is to give you some insight on some of the specific concerns of the transmasculine community.  Please be aware that because we are all different, so are our concerns.  When in doubt ask, but do it respectfully.

Original Plumbing Open Call for Issue 2 : the HAIR issue

Share your story with ORIGINAL PLUMBING magazine:

WRITING CALL FOR OP 2: THE HAIR ISSUE
Original Plumbing is currently accepting writing submissions for Issue 2, The Hair Issue, due out in Winter 2009/10.
For The Hair Issue we would like a range of stories and articles that revolve around HAIR from a trans male perspective. Anything from hair loss, unexpected hair growth in odd places, hairy bellies, hairy chests (pre and post operative), hair-line recessions, stories from your first trip to the barber, what your long hair means to you, excessive hair and the way it has effected the relationship you have with your partner or with yourself, stories of shaving mis-haps, tales of an early transition where each new body hair is counted and documented with anticipation and excitement, the history of your specific hair style... the list goes on.

To pitch us a personal narrative, fictional piece, editorial or product review related to hair from a trans masculine perspective, please send your pitch idea or submission to hair@originalplumbing.com.

Finished pieces should be 700 words or less.
Please include a short bio with your submission and your contact information.

The deadline for this writing call is December 1st.

Please note that we can not currently pay contributors for their work. As a community-based magazine that is designed to feature and create visibility for trans guys by trans guys, this project is completely a labor of love. Everyone involved is volunteer-based. All authors will retain full ownership of their work if it is published.
