Anti-LGBT Hatred from the Pulpit in "Faith of the Abomination"

This looks great! (h/t Calpernia Addams) -arvan

Faith of the Abomination is an independent documentary film created in Austin, TX about the experiences of a lesbian couple who went undercover as a heterosexual couple inside an Evangelical Organization.

Sometimes opportunities in life present themselves in strange ways. Sometimes these opportunities reveal truths unknown, courage unexplored, and betrayals unexpected.

Faith of the Abomination is the story of two Evangelical lesbian women who were promised inclusion in the church, only to be thwarted at every turn. Feeling lonely and frustrated, they decided to change their outside package and joined the Evangelical Organization as man and woman. They were accepted immediately and soon became members of the church's inner circle. However, what they found there strayed far from the teachings of Jesus...

Gay Humanists Warn: Vatican and Italian Government Have Blood on their Hands

London 21st October 2009

"If the Vatican and the Italian Parliament continue to block Anti-Hate Laws, then both will have blood on their hands."

- David Christmas, GALHA Secretary

The Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA) strongly supports the demonstrations held in Rome last weekend, protesting against the refusal of the Italian Parliament to pass laws protecting people physically victimised because of their sexual orientation.

The bill, which aimed to provide a deterrent against the growing number of "hate crimes" across Italy , especially against LGBT people, was voted out by an "unholy alliance" of Right Wing and Left Wing politicians, with the strong support of the Catholic Church.

As well as acting to torpedo this bill, the Vatican, has been a key player in denying gay Italian citizens other rights, such as the right to marriage or civil partnerships, that are rapidly becoming the norm elsewhere in Western Europe.

MPs rejecting the bill argued that it would give "special rights" to gay people, violating the Italian constitution which requires equality for all. More bizarrely, and inconsistently, it was claimed that it would also offer protection to tendencies such as paedophilia, zoophilia, necrophilia and incest.

In response, on Sunday 18th October, protestors organised "Flash Mobs" in several key locations in Rome , acting out their own "deaths" and wearing pink triangles, to hammer home the message sent out by Parliament, that violence against gay people is not an especially urgent issue. The clear message was that, in the event of any more attacks targeting gay people, the Italian Parliament and Government will have "blood on their hands".

Rahim Mohammadi Executed in Iran for A Homosexual Act - Lavat (October 14, 2009)

On October 6, 2009, Rahim Mohammadi was executed in Tabriz, a city in northwest Iran, after being convicted of sexual abuse and rape during sexual relations between males (a homosexual act called Lavat).

According to Rahim’s lawyer (here), Mr. Mohammad Mostafayi, there was not enough evidence presented to the court to prove such accusations; the court nevertheless decided that once a person is convicted of Lavat, he must be executed.  Mostafayi, who had not been informed of the court’s decision once it was handed down - and was only contacted after his client Rahim had been executed - wrote a letter of further explanation to the authorities.

"Rahim Mohammadi was first arrested for blackmail in June 2008; over the years, due to financial problems, he had used his wife to seduce men, inviting them to their house in order for them to have sex with her.  He would record the encounters on tape and use these tapes to blackmail them.  There was no witness or evidence to prove that Rahim had committed a homosexual act; a complainant who had claimed that he’d been raped by Rahim withdrew the charges," says Mostafayi.  In Iran, in the case of an accusation of Lavat (based on the Islamic punishment code stated here), even if there are no witnesses or evidence, the judge can decide at his own discretion to condemn the accused.

Who would Jesus shit on?

Media Matters posted this gem from one of the all-time self-righteous special hatemongers of our lord Jesus ChristJason Linkins did a nice job of rounding up some of the violent, ingorant statements, philosophies and actions of this 'servant of the lord's bank account'.

Or, alternatively, you can seek out the advice of a doomsday-predicting, despot supporting, Scotland fearing, snake-oil selling, idiot religious fanatic.

...

That's what he thinks! Also, there was another time when he thought that, "What we need is for somebody to place a small nuke at [The State Department]," which is not just an abomination, it is quite literally A BOMB. IN THIS NATION.

So, yes, this is definitely the guy you want guiding your kid's genitalia into an uncertain future. (HUFFINGTON POST)

I have been lucky enough to meet some wonderful spirit-minded people in my life.  I don't believe in God and am not a fan of organized religion.  However, I am a human being, very much interested in living with others in a way that is respectful.  So, I seek out people that can be with their own spirituality and respect mine.  That seems fair.  Some of them believe in a god of some sort and we get along great.  We respect and accept each other, not because we are alike - but because we are different and that our differences are our gifts to each other.

Uganda: Come for the wildlife, stay for the gay-bashing.

GLBTQ rights in Uganda have sucked for years, with open persecution by of gay, lesbians and other queers being propagated by hateful and ignorant people in positions of power.  The country has instilled oppressive laws against homosexuality and court cases have challenged these.  The police and mobs have taken to routinely beating, torturing and killing gays, ostensibly to protect the population from immorality.  (Apparently, killing unarmed people who love each other is not immoral in Uganda.  Lucky break, there.)

Recently however, things went from bad to worse with the help of the import of US gay-bashing whack jobs.  According to Casey Sanchez at the Southern Poverty Law Center:

A bizarre trio of American anti-gay leaders arrived in the Ugandan capital of Kampala Thursday to stage a three-day seminar, “Exposing the Truth Behind Homosexuality and the Homosexual Agenda,” in a country where homosexuality is a crime punishable by death. They are:

• Scott Lively, co-founder of the hate group Watchmen on the Walls and author of The Pink Swastika, a pseudo-history book claiming that “militant male homosexuals” helped mastermind the holocaust.

Caleb Lee Brundidge, a “sexual reorientation coach” for the International Healing Foundation, whose signature technique, as demonstrated on CNN, involves patients “beating on chairs with tennis rackets and screaming, “Mom, Mom, why did you do this to me?” Brundidge also counsels men struggling with their sexuality to visit mortuaries with a fringe Charismatic ministry team to “practice raising the dead.”

• Don Schmierer, a board member for Exodus International, an international umbrella group covering hundreds of “ex-gay” ministries. Schmierer warns parents in his guide to preventing homosexuality to watch out for boys who show “extreme macho behavior” are “frail, deformed, deaf” or “avoid fights/physical altercations.”

Indian MP threatens to drink poison if women's rights bill passes.

Maybe he was listening to Rush Limbaugh on the commute.

Sharad Yadav a politician from Janata Dal (United) party is presently a Member of the Parliament of India representing Bihar in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament

He has threatened to drink poison if a bill guaranteeing rights and employment to women is passed.  Perhaps overstating his importance in history, Mr. Yadav states:

Socrates had to consume poison to usher in a revolution. I will also consume poison,'' said the JD(U) leader.(Times of India)

It seems that that The Party of No may have opened a Mumbai franchise already.  This is not his first outburst in opposition to women.  Over a decade ago, he declared that he would not allow Parliament to be overrun by parkati auratein (liberated women).
