As part of the Youth Pride Center (YPC) LGBTQ Youth of Color Development Workshop Series, Gender JUST Organizers Renisha Campbell, Eric Amaya, & Sam Finkelstein will be offering an:

Organizing 101 Training:
How to build power and develop leadership in your community through organizing!

• Do you want to develop a basic understanding of grassroots organizing?
• Do you have a hard time getting people to come out to meetings, actions, or events?
• Would you like to develop a better analysis of power?
• Are you looking for a deeper grasp of strategy?
• Do you want to understand direct-action?

Youth Development Workshops

The Forum for Youth Investment "Ready by 21" campaign is designed to produce a national trend where all youth are essentially "ready by the age of 21" for all life has to offer. In 2009, YPC will help prepare LGBTQA youth of color to be ready by 21 through its LGBTQA Youth Development Workshops. Coordinated through YPC University, LGBTQA youth of color will have the opportunity to attend a series of workshops geared towards 4 major areas: Leadership & Service, Management, Career, LGBTQ Life and several electives.

• All sessions are related to a LGBTAQ youth of colors ultimate success.
• They offer youth a series or interdisciplinary topical sessions not offered in most high schools to LGBTQ youth of color.
Multiple sessions are offered to give youth a wide variety of topics to choose from.
• Workshops are held in related venues and professional environments by seasoned professionals in the LGBTQ community.
• Youth can earn service learning hours and certificates of completion - perfect for resumes.

Workshops are FREE for YPC members (who are required to attend 20 credit hours per year). Non-YPC members: $10 per 20 credit hours (aprox 10 courses of your choice) or $1 per course.
