Blogging against TSA sexual abuse

I'd like to promote an issue that has received too little public attention thus far: the body-scanners now employed at most major U.S. airports, and the "enhanced pat-downs" inflicted on those flyers who decline to allow themselves to be virtually strip-searched by the machines. These "pat-downs" amount to sexual molestation, because TSA officials are now required to grope the breasts and genitals of passengers and flight crews.

This enrages me as a feminist committed to bodily autonomy, as a civil libertarian, and as a mother of two young children. We've reached a point where we need to stand up and speak out, in hopes of reversing this new incursion on our human rights. I'd love it if bloggers with a bigger audience than mine would help rally resistance to these violations. Here's what I've written so far:

More reason to be crotch-ety about the TSA  - my introduction to the issues.

Are enhanced patdowns a form of sexual assault?  Legally, probably not. However, they sure feel like sexual assault to a number of people who've experienced them. And it sure looks as though the scanners may violate child-porn laws.

Assorted anti-Men's Rights Movement stuff

This past week on Man Boobz, my blog critiquing (and sometimes just mocking) the Men's Rights movement and antifeminism generally, I posted a bunch of guides to key issues: <a href=http://manboobz.blogspot.com/2010/11/mens-rights-myth-false-rape-accusations.html>Men's Rights Myth: False Rape Accusations</a>, <a href=http://manboobz.blogspot.com/2010/11/further-reading-prison-rape.html>Prison Rape</a>,<a href=http://manboobz.blogspot.com/2010/11/further-reading-gender-pay-gap.html>The Gender Pay Gap</a>

A post on a really, really vile victim-blaming <a href=http://manboobz.blogspot.com/2010/11/paul-elams-vanishing-post-blaming-and.html>rape argument</a>

A post about an especially bizzare Men's Rights take on <a href=http://manboobz.blogspot.com/2010/11/anglo-haters-gonna-anglo-hate.html>hate crime legislation</a> that actually suggests that Fox News is a tool of evil Feminazis.

And a post about another Men's Rightser who somehow has convinced himself that <a href=http://manboobz.blogspot.com/2010/11/conned-by-young-rake-its-all-feminisms.html>"feminism shackles feminine worth to her ability to attract a man."</a>

And if you haven't checked it out already, <a href=http://manboobz.blogspot.com/2010/11/further-reading-worst-of-mens-rights.html>The Worst of the Men's Rights Movement</a> is pretty, well, scary.

Oops. Let's try posting this comment again
